Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur Flags Off Dengue Awareness Rally, Launches Anti-Dengue Month with District-Wide Awareness Campaign
The Civil Surgeon Office, Ludhiana today formally launched the Anti-Dengue Month by organizing a Dengue Awareness Rally, which was flagged off by Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur. The rally marked the beginning of an intensive month-long awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about dengue prevention, early detection, and community participation in eliminating mosquito breeding sites. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur stressed that dengue is a preventable disease and that every citizen has an important role in controlling its spread. She urged the public to ensure that water does not stagnate in coolers, flower pots, discarded tyres, containers, and other household items, as these serve as breeding grounds for the Aedes mosquito. She further appealed to residents to inspect their homes and surroundings every week, wear full-sleeved clothing, use mosquito repellents, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, body aches, or rashes develop. Dr. Kaur informed that special dengue awareness camps will be organized throughout the district during July according to a pre-planned schedule, covering RC Haibowal Kalan/Haibowal Khurd (July 1 and 30), RC Kundanpuri (July 2), SAD Guru Nanak Pura (July 3), RC Chhauni Mohalla (July 4), SAD Salem Tabri (July 6), UFPU Sabzi Mandi (July 7), UFPU Basti Jodhewal/Maharana Pratap (July 8), RC Shiv Puri (July 9), RC Madhopuri (July 10), RC Field Ganj (July 11), RC Tajpur Road (July 13), RC Dhandari Kalan (July 14), UFPU Bhagwan Nagar (July 15), RC Dasmesh Nagar (July 16), UFPU Chet Singh Nagar (July 17), RC Kidwai Nagar (July 18), CD Kot Mangal Singh (July 20), UFPU Janata Nagar (July 21), RC Dugri (July 22), SAD Abdullapur Basti (July 23), UFPU Model Town/RC Model Gram (July 24), RC Sunet (July 25), RC Transport Nagar (July 27), CD Sarabha Nagar and RC Simlapuri (July 28), and RC Canal Dispensary along with UFPU Dholewal (July 29). She stated that these camps will focus on educating people about dengue prevention, identification and elimination of mosquito breeding sources, early recognition of symptoms, timely medical consultation, and active community participation in maintaining clean surroundings. The Civil Surgeon also called upon educational institutions, resident welfare associations, community leaders, and local bodies to actively support the campaign and work together towards making Ludhiana a dengue-free district. Present on the occasion were Dr. Vivek Kataria, Assistant Civil Surgeon; Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, District Family Welfare Officer; Dr. Supreet Kaur, District Epidemiologist; Dr. Seema(SMO Eye Mobile), Dr Jagdeep Kaur(DDHO), Tejinder Kaur, Counsellor (Ward No. 91); Rajinder Singh, Deputy Mass Media Officer; Manpreet Singh, Assistant Malaria Officer (AMO); Prem Singh; Jasveer Singh; Bhagwant Singh (MPHS); nursing students from Sarabha College; and Nursing Tutors Kamaljeet Kaur and Manpreet Kaur, who participated enthusiastically in the rally and reaffirmed their commitment to spreading awareness and mobilizing the community for effective dengue prevention throughout the district.
