CHANDIGARH, 11th May 2026:

The Baba Budha Ji International Gurmat Granthi Sabha, a prominent representative organization of Granthi Singhs, on Monday felicitated Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for enacting the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, a stringent anti-beadbi (sacrilege) legislation providing for life imprisonment to protect the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib

Describing the move as “historic, visionary and deeply connected with the sentiments of the Panth," the delegation lauded the Bhagwant Mann Government for passing the “Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026” on April 13 this year. The Granthi Sabha termed the legislation a landmark initiative that will play a decisive role in curbing incidents of beadbi and restoring faith among the Sikh Sangat.

A delegation of the Sabha, led by National President Baljinder Singh Chhanna, Senior Vice President Shinder Singh Kot Budha and National Flying Incharge Satnam Singh Akali and others, met the Chief Minister and honored him with a Siropa blessed by Guru Sahib Ji as a mark of gratitude and respect.

The office bearers said that repeated incidents of beadbi in Punjab had deeply hurt the Panth over the years, and the enactment of a strict law against desecration has provided a strong sense of justice and reassurance to the Panth. They stated that the legislation reflects the Chief Minister’s commitment towards safeguarding Sikh religious values and preserving the dignity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Praising Bhagwant Singh Mann for “marvellous sewa of the Panth,” the Sabha leaders said that the decision has instilled a renewed sense of security, honor and confidence among Granthi Singhs across the state. They noted that the law would act as a strong deterrent against anti-social and anti-religious elements attempting to disturb communal harmony through sacrilegious acts.

The delegation further said that CM Bhagwant Singh Mann had demonstrated courage and sensitivity by taking a decisive stand on an issue that concerns the emotional and spiritual sentiments of millions of Sikhs across the world. They added that the move has been widely welcomed by Sikh organizations and devotees alike.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the entire organization, the Sabha members prayed for the good health and long life of the Chief Minister. They said, “May Waheguru always keep Bhagwant Singh Mann in chardi kala and bless him with greater strength to continue serving Punjab and humanity.”

The Sabha also expressed confidence that the Chief Minister would continue working with the same dedication and commitment for the welfare of the people and the Panth in the future as well.
