Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, Dr. Ramandeep, a special training session was conducted today for RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram) teams on identification of tuberculosis (TB) in children and ensuring timely treatment.
The objective of this training was to enable early detection of suspected TB cases among school children and to link them promptly with appropriate treatment, thereby preventing the spread of the disease.
During the session, detailed information was provided on identification of common and hidden symptoms of TB in children, screening protocols, referral mechanisms, and the crucial role of RBSK teams during school health check-ups. Teams were also guided on how to identify children with suspected symptoms during routine school visits and ensure their referral to designated health facilities.
Civil Surgeon Ludhiana Dr. Ramandeep stated,
“Elimination of TB, especially among children, requires strong field-level surveillance and early identification. RBSK teams are a vital part of this mission, and their proactive role in schools can significantly help in early detection of pediatric TB cases. Every suspected case must be promptly linked to treatment.”
He further emphasized that early detection of TB in children is key to effective control of the disease and highlighted the need for field teams to remain alert and sensitive at all times. He also stressed that inter-departmental coordination is essential to strengthen TB prevention efforts.
On this occasion, District Immunization Officer Dr. Harpreet Singh and District TB Officer Dr. Ashish Chawla were also present and motivated the RBSK teams to carry out their responsibilities more effectively in safeguarding children’s health.
