BJP’s ‘Goondagardi’ Against Dalit Community Will Not Be Tolerated In Punjab: Gurpreet Singh GP
Why Has BJP Not Made Even One Dalit CM Or Deputy CM In 21 NDA-Ruled States: Jasvir Singh Garhi
BJP & RSS Trying To Exploit Baba Sahib Ambedkar Statue Incident For Political Gains: Pawan Kumar Tinu
CHANDIGARH; 16th September 2026:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday strongly condemned the incident at Barian Kalan in Hoshiarpur district during a programme related to Baba Sahib Ambedkar and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to disturb Punjab’s peace and communal harmony for petty politics and vote-bank interests. AAP leaders said that hooliganism against the Dalit community and attempts to disturb Punjab’s social harmony would not be tolerated.
In a statement, AAP leader Gurpreet Singh GP said, “During a programme related to Baba Sahib Ambedkar at Barian Kalan, BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Sampla and his workers attempted to snatch the microphone. This act is highly condemnable and such behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated. BJP leaders have always been anti-Punjab, whether it was about bringing the three black farm laws, against which our farmers and people of Punjab held protests, or about undermining the Constitution of the country. The people of Punjab will not tolerate attempts to disturb the state’s peace and harmony.”
AAP leader Jasvir Singh Garhi said, “On the issue of vandalism of Baba Sahib Ambedkar’s statue, former Union Minister Vijay Sampla went there and indulged in hooliganism against members of the Dalit community and BSP workers. Harassing poor and labouring people who had devoted 25 years of their lives to him, raising slogans of ‘BJP Zindabad’, getting into a scuffle, chasing Dalits and indulging in hooliganism against them is highly condemnable.”
Jasvir Singh Garhi stated, “During BJP rule, the 600-year-old temple of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji at Tughlakabad was demolished. The SC/ST Act was weakened through an amendment in 2018, atrocities were committed against poor Dalits in Una, Gujarat, and in Uttarakhand, after national party President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji visited, purification was carried out due to untouchability.”
“Vijay Sampla should answer why, despite belonging to a Dalit family himself, he is encouraging the BJP’s hooliganism. The BJP’s political tactics will not be allowed to succeed in Punjab. Despite the NDA government being in power in 21 states, why has the BJP not made even one Dalit Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister anywhere? The BJP should stay within its limits. Hooliganism against Dalits will not be tolerated,” he said.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Pawan Kumar Tinu said, “The BJP and some other parties went to Barian Kalan in Hoshiarpur district over the desecration of Baba Sahib Ambedkar’s statue only to promote their own politics. Just as the BJP incites communal riots in the Hindi-speaking belt and plays with people’s emotions to secure votes, the same game plan and theatrics are now being carried out in Punjab to secure votes.”
“The BJP itself has a hand behind the incidents of desecration that took place in Amritsar or Barian Kalan in Punjab. There should be an impartial investigation into these incidents,” he said.
Pawan Kumar Tinu stated, “As elections approach, such petty politics is being carried out by the BJP and RSS, but the people of Punjab understand everything. On the other hand, the CM Bhagwant Singh Mann government is carrying out development works for all sections of society.”
“The AAP government has put Baba Sahib Ambedkar’s photograph in every government office. By doing outstanding work in the field of education, Punjab has been brought to the number one position in the country, which was Baba Sahib’s real dream,” he said.
Appealing to Punjabis not to fall for such tactics of the BJP and to maintain Punjab’s communal harmony, Pawan Kumar Tinu stated, “The people of Punjab should once again form an AAP government in Punjab and make Bhagwant Singh Mann the Chief Minister.”
