CHANDIGARH, August 12:
On the occasion of International Youth Day, Punjab Police’s Community Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Hartek Foundation and the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Regional Centre, Chandigarh, organized a mega youth empowerment event at Punjab Kala Bhawan here on Wednesday.
The programme witnessed participation from over 400 students representing the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Student Police Cadet (SPC) scheme of the Punjab Police.
Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Community Affairs Division Gurpreet Kaur Deo attended the event as the Guest of Honour, while, two-time Olympian, Commonwealth Games medalist, and Arjuna Awardee Anjum Moudgil graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Director of RGNIYD Subrata Hazra and CEO of Hartek Foundation Harkirat Kaur were also present among the distinguished dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Special DGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo highlighted the pivotal role of youth in nation-building and reaffirmed the Punjab Police's commitment to fostering positive development, leadership, and civic responsibility among young citizens through programs like the Student Police Cadet scheme.
The Special DGP encouraged the young students to pursue their dreams with unwavering discipline, confidence, and determination while actively contributing to societal welfare and national growth.
Meanwhile, the function commenced with an art competition, followed by a captivating group musical yoga demonstration presented by the Student Police Cadets. Adding to the cultural and social messaging, students from the Department of Theatre, Panjab University, performed an impactful Nukkad Natak centered on the theme of 'Swachh Bharat’.
