*Delhi, 3rd September, 2026:* In an online press conference held today, leaders of SKM informed that SKM has sent a letter to PMO seeking appointment with PM to submit Memorandum of Charter of Demands of Farmers on India and although PMO has received SKM’s letter, no appointment has yet been given by PM. SKM therefore believes that PM is inaccessible to famers of India, who form 65% of the population. It is shocking that the PM is not interested to meet representatives of the vast majority of the people of India and this shows the lack of care and concern that the RSS-BJP combine have for farmers of India. SKM hopes that good sense will prevail and the PM will meet the farmers’ delegation led by SKM, upholding the highest traditions of democratic practices of the parliamentary system and the Constitution of India and discuss the non-implementation of written assurance dated 9th December 2021 given by the Union Govt. to SKM.

It may be recalled that the Memorandum that is being sought to be submitted to the PM is also being submitted to all elected representatives all across India - CMs, MPs and MLAs. The Memorandum calls upon Parliament and Vidhan Sabhas to enact laws for MSP@C2+50%, guarantee Minimum Wage @42,000 per month, ensure No FTAs that ruin people’s interests are signed, take steps for comprehensive loan waiver of farmers, devise policies to end agrarian crisis, unemployment, distress out-migration, farmers and daily workers suicides, repeal of 4 Labour Codes, restoration of MGNREGA, policies for protection of federal rights of the States and right to 50% share of the divisible pool (including levy cess and surcharges).

SKM brings to the notice of the Union Government the growing anger among farmers against authoritarian policies in aid of corporate interests. As per reports, nearly ten lakh people participated in more than 480 districts during the 10th August call-to-action organised by SKM, marking it as an important all India protest that reflected the growing anger among working people against the Modi regime. Sections of students, youth and women also participated.

SKM announces Maha Panchayats in 1 lakh villages on 3rd October 2026 - the Lakhimpur Kheri Martyrs Day. List of 10 lakh farmer volunteers, including 2.5 lakh women farmers will be issued to restart the farmers' struggle from November 26, 2026. The Maha Panchayats shall adopt resolutions on: 1. The Union Government implementing the written assurances given to SKM on 9th December 2021, 2. Building a Martyrs Memorial at Singhu Border in Delhi to honour 736 farmer martyrs; 3. Building worker-farmer unity to fight the corporate-communal Modi regime surrendering to US Imperialism to impose anti-people FTAs on the people of India.

The National Council and General Body of SKM shall meet at Karnal, Haryana on 12th October and decide the form, spots and other details for restarting the farmers' struggle from November 26, 2026, if the Modi regime continues to neglect the burning demands of the farmers.
