Indefinite Hunger Strike Has Been Started At The Birthplace Of Martyr Sukhdev Thapar To Protest The Neglect Of Him Even After 80 Years Of Independence.

Displeased with the lack of proper respect accorded to Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar even after 80 years of India's independence, the Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust began a hunger strike at his birthplace in Naughara on Monday. After paying homage to the statue of Shaheed Sukhdev, his descendants, Ashok Thapar, Pali Sehjpal, Ashish Bouni, Harry Virdi, Pramod Thapar, and Sunil Thakur, began the first day of the symbolic hunger strike. The hunger strike, which began at 9 a.m., concluded at 6 p.m. Trust President Ashok Thapar stated that the central and Punjab governments are disrespecting the martyrdom of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar by denying him due respect. During their four and a half years in power, Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann failed to even mention his name on any public platform, let alone pay homage at his birthplace. What greater proof could there be of this government's indifference to the martyr, which claims to follow the path shown by the martyrs? Regarding the poor condition of the direct road from Chaura Bazaar to the birthplace of Martyr Sukhdev, he said that the people who claim to have spent crores of rupees on memorials for martyrs belonging to a particular community in Punjab are offering various justifications for not constructing even a few meters of road to the birthplace of Martyr Sukhdev. Similarly, the demand to name the Ludhiana railway station after Martyr Sukhdev Thapar is also being ignored. Tribhuvan Thapar, president of the trust's youth wing, warned that if the demands are not met, the trust will surround the Chief Minister's residence with patriotic organizations. Rakesh Kumar, Rotansh, Harish Kaul, Vishu, Harry, Gaurav, Saurav Mishra, Chetan Malhotra, Sandeep Kannaujiya, Ganesh Chauhan, Agul Mathur, and others were also present on the occasion.
