Malerkotla Police Arrest Three Armed History-sheeters In ‘gangstran Te Vaar’ Drive

TWO COUNTRY-MADE .32 BORE PISTOLS AND SIX LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED

Continuing its crackdown on gangsters, illegal weapons and organised crime under the ‘GANGSTRAN TE VAAR’ campaign, Malerkotla Police have arrested three armed history-sheeters and recovered two country-made .32 bore pistols and six live cartridges.

The arrested accused have been identified as Syed Sahmun alias Moon, son of Mohammad Mehraj, resident of Garib Nagri, Eidgah Road, Malerkotla; Mohammad Sameer alias Saji, son of Mohammad Skeel, resident near Eidgah Phatak, Imamgarh Road, Malerkotla; and Mohammad Awais alias Bansri Wala, son of Abbas, resident of Mohalla Chuhatta, Malerkotla.

SSP Malerkotla Sh. Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, PPS, said the arrests followed credible information. The operation was planned by Sh. Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, PPS, SP (Investigation) and Sh. Deepwinderpal Singh, PPS, DSP (Investigation), Malerkotla, and carried out by a police team led by Inspector Harjinder Singh, Incharge CIA Staff Mahorana, along with ASI Lakhwinder Singh.

While conducting vehicle checking near the Ludhiana Bypass, the police received information that the three accused, wanted in an earlier firing case, were hiding near an electricity grid. The Police team immediately reached the spot and apprehended them.

Police recovered one .32 bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges from Syed Sahmun alias Moon, one .32 bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges from Mohammad Sameer alias Saji, and two live cartridges from Mohammad Awais alias Bansri Wala.

A case vide FIR No. 235, under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act and Section 112 BNS, has been registered at Police Station City-2, Malerkotla.

The accused were produced before the court and subsequently sent to Central Jail, Patiala.

SSP Khakh said the accused have a history of involvement in illegal weapon possession and firing-related cases.

He reiterated that the ‘GANGSTRAN TE VAAR’ campaign will continue with focused and sustained action against gangsters, illegal weapons and organised crime
