The Ludhiana Beopar Mandal (LBM) has launched a direct assault on the Central Government’s
industrial trade policy, accusing the administration of sacrificing 150 crore Indian citizens and millions of
downstream MSMEs to shield domestic primary steel giants from foreign competition.
Citing ongoing regulatory scrutiny by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) into alleged price collusion among
primary steel producers, LBM declared that government trade barriers—specifically anti-dumping and safeguard
duties—have effectively given primary mills a license to run an unregulated domestic oligopoly.

“While the Government promotes 'Vocal for Local,' its policies have turned into 'Expensive for Local.' Why are 150 crore
Indians being forced to pay inflated rates for basic steel inputs just to guarantee the balance sheets of primary steel
conglomerates? A common citizen saving for decades to build a home is hit directly by these price surges. We demand
to know: Is this economic policy meant to serve Indian citizens and MSMEs, or to shield primary steel majors from
international market forces?”

Key Issues Raised by Ludhiana Beopar Mandal
Remove Anti-Dumping & Safeguard Duties: Immediate revocation of all import barriers on foreign hot-rolled flat
products and construction steel. When foreign competitors buy steel at international rates, Indian exporters cannot
survive under domestic price inflation.
Capitalizing on Regulatory Scrutiny: Pointing to CCI findings regarding price coordination and market distortions
in the steel sector, LBM urged the Government to stop using trade policy to artificially inflate domestic steel prices.
Monopoly Control Over Distribution: Call for transparent, non-discriminatory access allowing MSMEs and local
stockists to buy directly from primary mills, cutting out forced intermediary margins.
National Call to All Opposition Parties & Parliamentarians
Ludhiana Beopar Mandal explicitly appealed to all national Opposition parties and Members of Parliament to unite
against the raw material crisis crippling Indian manufacturing.
“This is a national economic emergency affecting construction, auto parts, engineering, and infrastructure across
India,” stated the Mandal leadership. “We call upon Opposition leaders and Parliamentarians to take up this fight in
the public domain and demand the immediate removal of anti-dumping duties on industrial raw materials.”
