*Lord Valmiki's message is the foundation of social equality and dignity: Kewal Singh Dhillon*
Ludhiana/Chandigarh, 24 October
The sacred Ramayana composed by Lord Valmiki is a scripture of propriety, truth, sacrifice and dharma that has guided society for thousands of years. He gave the world the message that no one is big or small, and that every human being deserves equal respect.
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab State President Kewal Singh Dhillon while attending an event dedicated to the sacred Prakash Diwas of Lord Valmiki Maharaj at the Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Mandir, Qila Mohalla, Shivpuri Road, Ludhiana. The event was organised by Bhagwan Valmiki Aad Dharam Samaj and Baba Sahib Dalit Force Punjab.
On this occasion, State President Kewal Singh Dhillon extended heartfelt greetings on Lord Valmiki's Prakash Diwas to the entire congregation.
S. Dhillon thanked Shri Ajaipal Dishawar and all the organisers, saying that this day is not merely for remembering a great soul, but for putting his message into practice in our lives. He said Lord Valmiki's life teaches us that a person becomes great through deeds, not birth. His message is the true foundation of social justice. Describing Punjab as the land of Gurus and Pirs, he said the lesson of unity was taught here centuries ago, and the contribution of the Valmiki community on this land is a matter of pride for all. He said that from the fields to the cleaning of cities, and from guarding the borders to serving society, the Valmiki community has set an example of hard work and honesty on every front. Honouring the hands that kept our cities clean is our duty, not a favour.
Citing the BJP's resolve of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas", S. Dhillon said development is truly meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person in the line. He said education, employment, health and a dignified life are the right of every family. Until a book reaches the hand of every child, our struggle will continue.
Calling on people to be wary of forces that divide society, S. Dhillon said Lord Valmiki gave the message of joining, not breaking. He urged the congregation to pledge to tear down the walls of discrimination and build an equal, safe and prosperous Punjab.
He said Punjab is being ruined by drugs, and our youth fall victim to drugs every day. To save our youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have resolved to make Punjab drug-free. He also appealed to people to support the Bharatiya Janata Party to save Punjab's youth from drugs.
On this occasion, the organisers specially honoured and thanked the State President. He was accompanied by State General Secretary Anil Sarin, Gurdev Debi, District President Sunil Modgil, and other party leaders and workers.
