CHANDIGARH; 15th September 2026:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Tuesday slammed the Congress for exploiting tragedies for political gains while refusing to answer questions about its own record. AAP said Punjab has not forgotten the 1984 Sikh massacre, the pain of which continues to be carried by families across generations, and questioned why Congress leaders still avoid accountability on the issue. The party also reminded Congress that Punjabis have not forgotten its record on drugs and gangsterism.

The AAP said Gulzar SinghS death was tragic and the matter should be investigated thoroughly, but Congress leaders should not turn the grief of a family into a political ladder. The party said the investigation was underway and the law should take its course, while questioning Sachin PilotS attempt to use the matter for political headlines instead of allowing the investigation to proceed.

On this, AAP Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said, “Punjab has not forgotten 1984, and it will not forgive Congress. 42 years on, the pain is just as real. Every time Congress leaders dodge questions and run from accountability, they show complete contempt for Punjab.”

Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “Why is the Congress still refusing to answer about the 1984 Sikh massacre even today? Why the fear about 1984 in Congress?”

Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated, “Sachin Pilot walks off. Raja Warring loses his temper. All over questions about Kamal Nath and 1984. Decades later, why does the Congress leadership still panic and refuse to face the truth about the 1984 Sikh massacre?”

Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated, “Why does asking about Kamal Nath and 1984 make Sachin Pilot flee and Raja Warring get furious? If Congress has nothing to hide about the 1984 Sikh genocide, why the anger and avoidance?”

Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal said, “When Punjab asks about 1984, it deserves answers, not silence. Four decades have passed, but the pain of those who suffered remains. Accountability cannot be treated as an inconvenient political question. Congress must have the courage to face it.”

Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO stated, “For Punjab, 1984 is not history that can simply be put away. It remains a painful memory carried by families across generations. But even today in 2026, why are Congress leaders still unwilling to openly confront questions of accountability?”

Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said, “Why does Congress still refuse to answer for the 1984 Sikh massacre? What is the party so terrified of after 42 years?”

Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Khataruchak stated, “1984: 42 years on, yet Congress continues to run away from questions. For Punjab & Punjabis, this is a wound that can never be erased. The pain remains, the questions remain, and so does the demand for accountability. Punjab will continue to ask. Congress must answer.”

Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said, “Punjab can never be healed from the wounds of 1984. And who was responsible? Indian National Congress. Yet, even after 4 decades, Congress leaders choose to run away or retreat into silence whenever questions are raised about 1984. Punjab & Punjabis deserve answers.”

The AAP said Punjab had not forgotten the killings of innocent Sikhs in 1984 and questioned why Congress leadership continued to avoid giving clear answers on the issue.

AAP also said the Bhagwant Mann government is fighting the drug menace and gangsterism through decisive action, while Congress was attempting to turn every tragedy into a political campaign. “Congress should first answer for its own track record on drugs and gangsterism before lecturing Punjab,” the party said.

The AAP said the people of Punjab can distinguish between those who genuinely fight drugs and gangsterism and those who arrive only when there is a dead body to stand beside,” AAP said. Congress should give the grieving family justice, not political slogans. Punjab will not allow Sachin Pilot, Raja Warring or Rahul Gandhi to exploit a tragedy for political gains.
