‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras’ Will Build a People’s Movement Against Drugs: Kewal Singh Dhillon
BJP Resolves to Make Punjab Drug-Free, Appeals to People to Join the Campaign
Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon today reviewed the arrangements for the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras’ being organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party at Fatehgarh Sahib and Talwandi Sabo.
At Fatehgarh Sahib, he was accompanied by BJP National General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Dr. Satish Poonia. The two leaders inspected the arrangements for the rally to be held at the Old Grain Market before the commencement of the yatra. Thereafter, they held a meeting with party leaders and workers to review the preparations.
Similarly, at Talwandi Sabo, Kewal Singh Dhillon inspected the rally venue at the Grain Market and held a meeting with party workers to take stock of the arrangements being made for the yatra.
On the occasion, Kewal Singh Dhillon said that drugs have become the biggest problem in Punjab today. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party had claimed before coming to power that it would eradicate drugs within three months, but contrary to that promise, the drug problem in the state has become even more serious. He said the growing spread of drugs has severely affected Punjab’s younger generation and has also led to an increase in gangsterism and law-and-order challenges.
He said that the BJP has resolved to make Punjab drug-free, under which four ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras’ will be taken out across different parts of the state. Through these yatras, people will be mobilised to join the campaign and widespread awareness will be created about the harmful effects of drugs.
Kewal Singh Dhillon said that these yatras would prove to be an important step towards building a strong people’s movement against drugs. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved to make the country drug-free, and the same resolve would be pursued with determination in Punjab as well.
He said that the yatras would commence after offering prayers at Gurdwara Jyoti Saroop Sahib in Fatehgarh Sahib and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo.
In conclusion, he appealed to the people of Punjab to participate wholeheartedly in the campaign against drugs and support the BJP in realising the vision of a ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab’.
