Does BJP want to promote drugs across country in collusion with drug traffickers? Anurag Dhanda
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has put the BJP’s record on tackling drugs in its own-ruled states at the centre of the debate, with National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal urging the BJP to learn from Punjab’s action against drug smuggling. He pointed to a shift in the source of drugs entering Punjab, stating that while 80% earlier came from Pakistan, the same proportion now comes from BJP-ruled Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
The AAP Chief highlighted Gujarat’s Mundra Port as the biggest source of drugs entering Punjab and questioned the BJP-led Central Government’s failure to stop the supply, saying it either cannot or does not want to act against it.
In a post on X, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, “When our government was formed in 2022, 80% of the drugs came from Pakistan. The AAP Government brought the drugs coming from Pakistan under control by installing anti-drone systems. Today, only 20% of the drugs come from Pakistan. Today, 80% of the drugs are coming from BJP-ruled states Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Has the BJP failed to stop the drug trade in its states, or does it not want to stop it? They have been in power in Gujarat for 30 years, and that is where the drug trade is the highest.”
He added, “Drugs enter India through Mundra Port in BJP-ruled Gujarat, and it is the responsibility of the BJP Government at the Centre to stop this. And look at their shamelessness. These people are taking out a march against drugs in Punjab. Learn from Punjab. Learn from the AAP and eliminate drugs from your own states as well. Do not play politics over everything.”
Meanwhile, AAP National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda stated on X, “80% of the drugs coming into Punjab are coming from BJP-ruled states. Why is this supply not being stopped? Is the BJP working with drug traffickers to promote drugs in the country?”
