Dhaliwal Demands Clarification from Congress Leaders Raja Warring and Bajwa; Asks, Does Congress Party Consider Religious Sentiments of Punjab’s People as ‘Ostentation’?

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal strongly condemned the recent statement of Congress MP Dharamvir Gandhi, calling it extremely shameful, despicable and a direct attack on religious faith. He demanded that Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa immediately clarify their stand on the issue.
Dhaliwal said that under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme of the Punjab Government, our elderly and poor people are visiting holy places such as Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sri Amritsar Sahib, Khatu Shyam, Mathura and Haridwar. Is providing free religious pilgrimage to the elderly and poor a crime? What wrong does Dharamvir Gandhi see in this welfare-oriented initiative?
He questioned Punjab Congress President Raja Warring and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa and asked them to clarify whether the Congress Party considers the religious sentiments of the people of Punjab as ‘ostentation’.
He further said that some people cannot afford the expenses of personally visiting these pilgrimage sites. The government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made excellent arrangements for their accommodation, food and transportation. Long queues for buses have been seen in villages, and people are happily going for guru-darshan. What problem does Congress have with the happiness of ordinary people?
Dhaliwal said that during the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and other religious events as well, the government had made arrangements for devotees on a large scale. Now, on the occasion of the 650th Gurpurab of Guru Ravidas Ji, the government is also organising programmes with devotion and respect. He asked the Congress leaders whether, in their view, even facilitating devotees to visit religious places is considered a wrong act?
The AAP leader said that Raja Warring, Partap Bajwa and the Congress high command must now break their silence on Dharamvir Gandhi’s statement. They should clearly tell the people of Punjab whether Congress agrees with this statement. If they do not agree, the Congress leadership should publicly condemn Dharamvir Gandhi’s statement and make its position clear.
Dhaliwal said that political opposition has its place, but attacking and Politicising the religious faith of the people of Punjab cannot be accepted at any cost. He said that the objective of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party government is to provide facilities to the poor, elderly and common people, and not to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. He said that the people of Punjab are watching everything, and they will give a befitting response to such remarks.
