NEW DELHI:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday questioned the Modi government over the withdrawal of a Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) report on E20 blended petrol, revealing that the industry body was pressured into taking it back after raising concerns about its impact on vehicles.

The AAP Chief shared that the report found that E20 blended petrol contains high levels of chloride and moisture that damage vehicles, and questioned why the government was forcing its implementation despite scientific and engineering concerns.

In a video message on X, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, "This SIAM report on E20 is shocking. SIAM conducted research, and all automobile manufacturers collectively found that E20 is damaging vehicles because of its high chloride and moisture content. SIAM submitted this report to the Modi government on 28 July.”

He added, “By 4 August, the Central Government had pressured SIAM into withdrawing it. After withdrawing the report, SIAM stated that there may have been some issues with it and that certain findings needed to be rechecked. In effect, the Modi government is forcibly imposing E20 on the entire country. But why?”
