Anti-ragging Week Observed At College Of Dairy And Food Science Technology

College of Dairy and Food Science Technology (CDFST), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana observed Anti-Ragging Week-2026, with a series of activities to raise awareness about ragging and to promote mutual respect and harmony among students.
The programme began with a pledge-taking ceremony by students, who pledged to uphold a ragging-free campus and promote mutual respect, dignity and harmony. A UGC-recommended anti-ragging awareness video was also screened. During the week, a poster-making competition and Selfie Stand activity was organized with enthusiastic participation.
Interactive sessions on mental well-being and stress management were conducted by Ms. Manjinder Kaur Ahuja, counselling Coach, and Ms. Darpan Aulakh, Clinical Psychologist, who sensitized students about early signs of stress and ways to cope with them. Dr. Aman Amrit Cheema, Professor of Law, Panjab University Regional centre, Ludhiana delivered an informative lecture on the seriousness of ragging and its strict legal and disciplinary consequences.
The students actively participated in all the activities and gained valuable insights into mental well-being, responsible peer relationships and anti-ragging regulations.
Dr. S.P.S. Ghuman, Dean, CDFST, appreciated the efforts of Dr. Gopika Talwar, Chairperson, Anti-Ragging Committee and lauded the enthusiastic participation of the students and faculty members towards creating a positive and harmonious campus culture.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice Chancellor, appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of nurturing a culture of mutual respect, empathy, dignity and inclusiveness, where students feel comfortable in expressing themselves and seeking support when needed.
The programme concluded with the important message that ragging has no place in a healthy academic environment and that mutual respect, empathy, responsible behaviour and support for one another are essential for building a safe, positive and harmonious campus.
