Greeting the tribal community across the country on World Tribal Day, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that the greatest injustice in independent India has been done to the tribal community, whose water, forests and land were taken away by successive political parties and handed over to big corporations. The AAP Chief said that only the AAP is fighting for the rights of the tribal community, while tribal leader Chaitar Vasava is in jail in a false case for raising his voice for his community. Arvind Kejriwal expressed hope that Chaitar Vasava would be released soon.

Addressing the tribal community, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “In the last 75 years, the greatest injustice has been done to the tribal community. The country progressed in these 75 years, people from all other communities progressed, but the tribal community was left behind. This happened because the tribal community was deliberately kept behind. All their resources were looted. Water, forests and land are the birthright of the tribal community, but these were snatched away from the community and handed over to big companies because the leaders of the other parties were thieves and corrupt.”

Highlighting AAP’s fight for tribal rights, the AAP Chief stated, “The AAP is fighting for your rights, and our leaders have gone to jail many times for this struggle. Chaitar Vasava is a son and brother of the tribal community. He has gone to jail I do not know how many times to secure the rights of the tribal community.”

Questioning the non-implementation of the PESA(Provision of Panchayats, Extension to Scheduled Areas Act), Arvind Kejriwal said, “These people brought the PESA law, but they did not implement it. They take all these decisions without consulting the community and the Gram Sabha.”

Speaking about Chaitar Vasava, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today, Chaitar Vasava is in jail because he is fighting for the tribal community. Pray that he comes out soon.”
