GLADA Demolishes Six Unauthorized Colonies in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, September 22: Following the directions of Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and GLADA Chief Administrator Vikas Hira, PCS, the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) intensified its crackdown on unauthorized and unplanned development.

In compliance with demolition orders issued by the Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA, an enforcement team, accompanied by a Duty Magistrate and police force, demolished six unauthorized colonies in Kakka and Jagirpur villages on September 22.

The team dismantled roads and removed illegal constructions and structures at the sites. The action was taken after developers allegedly continued illegal construction despite notices issued by GLADA. The demolition drive remained unopposed.

GLADA said more such drives are planned in the coming weeks to prevent unauthorized colonies from developing at an early stage.

The Chief Administrator appealed to the public not to purchase plots or properties in unauthorized colonies, warning that such areas may not receive facilities such as water supply, sewerage and electricity connections.

Prospective buyers have been advised to verify the list of approved and regularized colonies and sanctioned maps available on the official GLADA website before purchasing any property.

GLADA further stated that strict legal action will continue under the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act against persons involved in unauthorized development in Ludhiana district.
