₹150 Crore Projects Launched to Support Working Women
Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is consistently striving for the welfare and empowerment of women across the state. She said that significant measures are being taken to provide safe and convenient accommodation facilities for working women.
Sharing this information, Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab Government is constructing five Working Women Hostels at a total cost of ₹150 crore. These hostels will be established in Mohali, Amritsar, and Jalandhar. She informed that three hostels will be constructed in Mohali, while Amritsar and Jalandhar will have one hostel each.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that this project marks a major step toward offering safe, affordable, and modern residential options for women, which will directly benefit thousands of working women in Punjab.
She further added that these hostels will not be limited to accommodation alone; they will also include robust security arrangements along with essential and modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment for women.
The Minister mentioned that, apart from this, the Punjab Government is effectively implementing several other schemes and programmes aimed at empowering women through education, employment, and enhanced social participation.
Dr. Baljit Kaur directed the concerned officials to ensure that the construction of these Working Women Hostels is completed swiftly and in accordance with high-quality standards so that the facilities can be made available to women at the earliest.
