To strengthen road safety and ensure disciplined traffic movement, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police conducted a special drive against overloaded vehicles as well as those violating prescribed length and width restrictions across the city. The Traffic Wing carried out intensive checking on key routes, focusing on vehicles posing safety risks due to excessive load or oversized structures.
During the drive, a total of *52 challans* were issued under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Strict action was taken against trucks, commercial carriers, and heavy vehicles found operating beyond legal weight limits or exceeding approved dimensions.
Ludhiana Commissioner of Police, *Sh. Swapan Sharma (IPS)* , stated that overloaded and over-dimensioned vehicles pose serious risks to other road users and cause significant damage to road infrastructure. He added that the police will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward such violations.
The enforcement drive was supervised by *A.D.C.P. Traffic Gurpreet Kaur Purewal (PPS).* Field operations were led by *A.C.P. Traffic-1 Sh. Jatin Bansal (PPS)* and *A.C.P. Traffic-2 Sh. Gurdev Singh* *(PPS)* , along with the Traffic Police staff.
Ludhiana Police urges all transporters and commercial vehicle operators to follow legal loading norms and vehicle dimension regulations to ensure safer and smoother movement on city roads.
