In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Gurdaspur Police has arrested two more operatives of radicalised gangsters Gurdev Jassal and Gurlal alias Gullu, associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organisation, and recovered three .32 caliber pistols along with live cartridges and magazines from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

Those arrested have been identified as Lovedeep Singh alias Love, a resident of Bains in Nawanshahr and Tek Chand alias Tinku, a resident of village Beesla in Behram, SBS Nagar.

The development came a day after two operatives of gangsters Gurdev Jassal and Gurlal alias Gullu were arrested in connection with two recent firing incidents linked to extortion, and one sophisticated 9MM pistol was recovered from their possession.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary probe has revealed that the duo were tasked by their handlers abroad to carry out targeted killings of rival gang members in Punjab, as part of a larger conspiracy to spread terror and unrest in the state.

The DGP said that further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages in this case to dismantle their whole network.

Sharing operational details, DIG Border Range Sandeep Goel said that acting on reliable inputs, police teams from Gurdaspur under the overall supervision of SSP Gurdaspur Aaditya has arrested both the accused from Adda Bakshiwal at Kalanaur, Gurdaspur. The police teams were led by DSP Kalanaur Gurwinder Singh Chandi, Incharge special team Gurdaspur SI Gurwinder Singh and SHO Kalanaur Insp Jatinder Singh.

The DIG said that more arrests and recoveries are likely in coming days.

SSP Gurdaspur Aaditya said that apart from recovering pistols, police teams have also impounded their white-coloured Volkswagen Jetta sedan car without registration number, being used to carry out criminal activities.

In this regard a case FIR no. 160 dated 01.10.25 has been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Kalanaur in Gurdaspur.
