PATHANKOT; September 18, 2026:
As the BJP began its ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ from Pathankot, the anger among people over issues concerning Punjab was visible on the ground, with posters putting three direct questions to the PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah wherever its campaign reached. The questions sought answers on drugs being smuggled into Punjab from Gujarat, Punjab’s water being given to Haryana and Rajasthan, and the BJP’s proposed political understanding with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers said the same questions would follow the BJP’s yatra across Punjab, ensuring that the issues being raised by people remain visible wherever the party goes.
As the BJP launched its ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’, AAP volunteers put up posters raising questions over the party’s position on drugs, Punjab’s waters and a proposed political understanding with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. The AAP volunteers stated, “The people of Punjab have every right to ask the BJP these questions and seek answers. A party cannot expect to speak about drugs in Punjab while people are asking questions about drug consignments coming from Gujarat, a BJP-ruled state. Similarly, the people of Punjab deserve clarity on the BJP’s position on the state’s waters and on the proposed political understanding with the SAD-Badal.”
The campaign of questions will continue across Punjab as the BJP’s yatra moves from one place to another. AAP volunteers emphasised, “These posters are not about stopping anyone’s political programme. They are about ensuring that the issues being raised by the people of Punjab remain visible wherever the BJP reaches. The people will continue asking the BJP to answer these three questions and explain its stand clearly.”
The Aam Aadmi Party stated, “The people of Punjab are politically aware and understand the difference between slogans and accountability. As the BJP travels across the state claiming to speak against drugs, these three questions raised through the posters will remain before its leaders and workers: Why is the BJP getting drugs smuggled into Punjab from Gujarat? Why does the BJP want Punjab’s water to go to Haryana and Rajasthan? And why does the BJP want to bring back black laws in alliance with the SAD (Badal)?”
The AAP volunteers asserted, “Earlier governments were afraid to even register cases against those involved in the drug trade because highly influential people controlled the trade. Since the AAP came to power, the powers of gangsters have been dismantled, accountability is being ensured and action is being taken against those involved in the drug trade. People in Punjab now feel safer and more confident that those involved in such activities will be held accountable.”
