ludhiana Police Foil A Major Isi Espionage Plan; Arrest One Accused

*29 August, 2026, Ludhiana*: In a major breakthrough under a special campaign launched against anti-national elements, Ludhiana Commissionerate Police in coordination with Counter Intelligence Ludhiana foiled anti-national plans of the Pakistan agencies.

Under the guidance of Swapan Sharma, IPS (Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana), Mr. Harpal Singh, PPS (DCP Investigation), Simratpal Singh Dhindsa Ms. Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, PPS (ADCP Investigation), and Mr. Harshpreet Singh, PPS (ACP Detective-1), Ludhiana Police has arrested one individual involved in espionage activities for Pakistani intelligence agencies.

The Commissioner of Police Ludhiana and Simrat Pal Singh Dhindsa, AIG, CI, Ludhiana informed that a in joint operation, team comprising Insp. Avtar Singh (Incharge CIA Staff, Ludhiana), Insp. Harshveer Singh (SHO, PS Sarabha Nagar) , Insp Kailash, Counter Intelligence Ludhiana apprehended the accused and recovered visual surveillance equipment used to transmit confidential information across the border.

*Case Details*

On August 27, 2026, acting on reliable secret information, the joint police team intercepted the accused, Raspal Singh.

*Modus Operandi*: The accused had rented a shop opposite Mediway Hospital, Plot No. 1, New Sunder Nagar, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana. He installed CCTV cameras outside the premises and granted *full live-stream access to Pakistani intelligence agencies.*

*Activity*: Pakistani operatives used this feed to monitor security movements in Ludhiana district and used the information to issue threats via various mobile numbers. The accused actively gathered and *shared confidential information regarding national security, defense agencies, and strategic activities with his handlers in Pakistan.*

*Legal Action: FIR No. 236, dated 27-08-2026, under Sections 3, 4, 5, 9 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923 and Section 61(2) of BNS-2023, was registered at Police Station Sarabha Nagar.

*Current Status: The accused was arrested and produced before the Hon'ble Court, which granted a 6-day police remand.

Mr. Swapan said that in-depth interrogation is currently underway to ascertain the full extent of sensitive information transmitted to date and any upcoming plans.
