Malerkotla Police Demolish Drug Peddlers' Properties Under Yudh Nashian Virudh

SSP Khakh says properties built on drug money will not be spared

Malerkotla, September 18:
The Malerkotla Police today demolished properties belonging to two known drug peddlers after finding that the structures had been built with money earned from selling narcotics. The action was carried out as part of the Punjab government's anti-drug campaign, "Yudh Nashian Virudh," and covered properties in Mohalla Bairagiyan Wala, near Sai Baba Ji Mandir here.

The operation was overseen by Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh and carried out on the ground by SP (D) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, along with DSP Manavjit Singh and the local Station House Officer. Police personnel were deployed at the spot through the demolition.

The first accused, Mohammad Iftikhar alias Taru Khan, was booked on September 9 this year under the NDPS Act after police recovered seven grams of heroin from him.

His son, Faisal Khan alias Taru Wala, has a longer record. Police have booked him four times since 2022 — first for possessing four-and-a-half kilograms of charas, then twice for carrying 150 intoxicant pills, and once more for seven grams of heroin, the most recent case being registered earlier this year.

SSP Khakh said police had checked the income records of both men and found nothing to explain how they could afford the properties that were demolished. "These houses were built on drug money, plain and simple," he said. "We are not going to let that stand. Anyone thinking of using drug profits to build a home or buy property should know we are watching, and we will act."

He also asked people in the area to share any information they have about drug peddlers, and promised that names of informants would be kept confidential.

SSP Khakh said the demolition sends a clear message that the campaign against drugs in Punjab is not just about arrests, but about hitting peddlers where it hurts most — their money and their property.
