Warring Seeks Answers From Bjp Over Smuggling Of Drugs Into India

CHANDIGARH, September 17: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the centre over the smuggling of huge quantity of drugs into India, particularly through Punjab borders, saying that the buck stops at the union Home Minister Amit Shah, who controls the Border Security Force.

Reacting to the proposed ‘yatra’ of the BJP against drugs in Punjab, Warring said, it is indeed a fact that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has not only failed to curb the drugs, but has added to the problem. He said, the AAP has been a complete disaster in curbing the drugs.

But, he added, the BJP government at the centre cannot escape the responsibility either. He pointed out, almost all the drugs are being smuggled in from abroad via Pakistan into Punjab. He asked, why has the BSF not been able to curb and control the inflow of drugs into the state. He said, the BJP owes answer and explanation to the people of Punjab. “People are fed up with your gimmicks and these cannot cover up your failures”, he told the BJP, while adding, not only were the drugs being smuggled through Punjab, but even through the ports of Gujarat.

Warring observed that the BJP was playing a friendly match with its B-team in Punjab on the critically sensitive issue of drugs. He pointed out, while on the one hand the AAP was playing the game of ‘Yudh Nashya Virudh’, the BJP had started a ‘Yatra’ against the drugs. “Both are just the theatrical presentations by the two parties which are known for resorting to theatrics for electoral purposes”, he remarked.
