Swapan Sharma, IPS, Ludhiana Police today scaled up its ongoing anti-drug campaign "Yudh Nashian Virudh" with major enforcement success, police-public outreach, school awareness drives, and strict compliance checks across the city.
Key achievements and operational measures executed today include:
* Major Enforcement Hit on Drug Trafficking (NDPS Act Operations):
Intensifying the crackdown on drug peddlers and networks, Ludhiana Police registered 10 FIRs under the NDPS Act and arrested 11 drug smugglers/peddlers during the ongoing operations across the city.
* Student Awareness & Anti-Drug Drives Across Schools:
* Kundan Vidya Mandir School (Near Rekhi Cinema Chowk): Saanjh staff, along with SHO Division No. 1 and ACP Central, conducted a specialized awareness session to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of a drug-free life.
* Government Multipurpose School (Rakhi Chowk, PS Division No. 1): The Traffic Education Cell conducted an interactive session focusing on road safety rules and anti-drug awareness for students.
* Government Girls High School (Near Rekhi Chowk, PS Division No. 1): Police officers conducted an awareness lecture educating students about preventive measures and resisting drug exposure.
* Cordon & Search Operation (CASO) at Railway Station:
Under the jurisdiction of Police Station Division No. 01, police teams executed a comprehensive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at the Railway Station area to maintain heightened security and deter criminal activity.
* Village Defence Committee (VDC) Engagement at Village Bains:
Under Sarabha Nagar Police Station jurisdiction, CP Ludhiana presided over a VDC meeting at Village Bains, directly interacting with residents to address local safety concerns and strengthen community intelligence sharing.
* Strict Inspection of Pharmacies & Medical Stores:
Under Police Station Division No. 04 at Qila Mohalla, CP Ludhiana conducted surprise checks at chemist shops and medical stores. Sales records and controlled medicines were thoroughly verified to prevent the illegal sale of habit-forming drugs.
* Public Outreach ("Sampark" Meetings):
Interactive public dialogues were conducted to address local security concerns and reinforce mutual trust between the public and police personnel.
