The Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI, in association with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) and the Institute of Indian Foundrymen, Northern Region, organised an awareness session on the National Pension System (NPS) titled “Building a Secure Future for MSME Workforce” in Jalandhar.
The session aimed to create awareness among local industry leaders, trade representatives and MSMEs about retirement planning, financial security and the long-term benefits of adopting NPS for employers as well as employees.
Delivering the welcome address, Sanjeev Juneja, Convener, Jalandhar Zone of PHDCCI, highlighted the important role of small businesses and trade units in regional economic growth. He stressed the need for structured welfare and social security mechanisms to improve workforce retention and stability.
Abhishek Dhiman, Assistant Manager, PFRDA, explained the authority’s vision of expanding pension and social security coverage, particularly among MSMEs and the unorganized sector. He underlined the importance of structured retirement planning and wider adoption of NPS.
Sumit Kumar, Assistant Secretary, and Gursharan Singh, Resident Officer, PHDCCI, gave an overview of the chamber’s legacy, initiatives and activities undertaken by the Punjab State Chapter for the growth of industries, MSMEs, startups and entrepreneurs. They also interacted with participants during the open-house session and responded to queries related to PHDCCI initiatives.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Jasjit Singh Bedi, Vice Chairman, IIF Chandigarh Chapter and Member, PHDCCI. He said NPS could serve as an affordable and effective social security tool for strengthening workforce stability among MSMEs.
The session witnessed participation from industry leaders, trade representatives, entrepreneurs and MSMEs, who discussed the importance of financial security and long-term retirement planning for employees.
