Food Inspectors to go hitech with Laptops; Lal Chand Kataruchak gives nod for Digital Push

Chandigarh, August 25:

Taking a major step forward in the direction of keeping pace with the new technological era, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak today gave in principle approval to the procurement of laptops for the Inspector cadre officers.

Holding an interaction with the Inspector Union of the department, the Minister termed the decision to be a game changing one in terms of enabling the Inspectors to discharge their duties with more precision and transparency since they are the foot soldiers of the department at the ground level.

The Minister further added that this move assumes importance from the fact that the Inspectors interact with the farmers, Arhtiyas and other stakeholders connected with the procurement process at the grassroots level.

The Minister also okayed the grant of conveyance allowance for the Inspectors so that they do not face any hindrance in visiting the mandis and ascertaining the ground situation especially at the time of the procurement operations.

Emphasizing the significance of having a robust infrastructure aimed at ensuring the efficient & seamless functioning of the offices of the department, Mr. Kataruchak also approved the infrastructure allowance which would enable the Inspectors to ensure a good quality furniture in their offices thus giving a positive ambience to their office premises.

The Minister further exhorted the Inspectors to especially make sure that the foodgrains meant for the poor sections of the society reaches them without fail. No laxity in this regard would be tolerated, added Mr. Kataruchak.

Among others present on the occasion included the Principal Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Rahul Tewari, Director Varinder Kumar Sharma, Additional Managing Director PUNGRAIN Kamal Kumar Garg, Additional Directors Dr. Anjuman Bhaskar & Ajayveer Singh Sarao.
