Sunil Jakhar Says CBI Probe Raises Hope for Action in Jhota Case
Chandigarh, October 20: Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar said Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Mansa had raised hopes of stronger action against drug-related activities in Punjab.
Jakhar said Amit Shah had listened to the concerns of Parvinder Singh Jhota’s family and assured them that a CBI team would arrive on Wednesday to begin its investigation. He added that those found guilty in the case or other drug-related matters would face action as per law.
Paying tribute to Jhota’s father and wife, Jakhar appreciated their determination to continue raising their voice against drugs despite their personal loss. He said their efforts reflected a strong commitment to protecting society, particularly the state’s youth.
Jakhar also stated that the Central Government had already included pregabalin capsules in the list of scheduled medicines. Commenting on Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema’s remarks, he criticised the state government’s response to the issue.
