Ensuring Awareness of Government Health Services Among Every Citizen Is a Priority: Civil Surgeon

Ludhiana, October 19, 2026:

The Mass Media Wing of the District Health Department, Ludhiana, conducted a special field-level awareness activity at shops today to educate shopkeepers and the general public about various health schemes and government healthcare services available in Punjab. During the activity, the team interacted directly with shopkeepers and members of the public, shared information about available health schemes, and encouraged them to spread awareness among their families and communities.

Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, said that the objective of government health schemes is to inform people about available healthcare facilities and guide eligible beneficiaries in accessing the benefits in accordance with the applicable rules. She emphasised that direct interaction with people at markets, shops and other public places plays an important role in making health awareness a part of everyday life. She urged the public to obtain accurate information about government healthcare services and contact the relevant health institutions whenever assistance is required.

During the awareness drive, the Mass Media team provided information about the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, Mukh Mantri Cancer Rahat Kosh Yojana, healthcare services available through Aam Aadmi Clinics, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation, family planning and other preventive healthcare programmes.

Special emphasis was laid on the Mukh Mantri Cancer Rahat Kosh Yojana, under which eligible cancer patients can receive financial assistance subject to the prescribed rules and conditions. People were encouraged to seek information from the relevant government health institutions regarding eligibility, required documents and the application process if a family member is suffering from cancer.

The team also explained that eligibility criteria, applicable conditions and procedures may differ from one scheme to another. Therefore, citizens should verify the relevant details through authorised government health institutions before applying for any benefit.

Deputy Mass Media Officers Rajinder Singh and Prabhdeep Singh Chawla were present during the activity. The team interacted with shopkeepers and members of the public, shared information about government health initiatives, and encouraged them to act as health awareness ambassadors by passing on accurate information to their families and communities.

The District Health Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring that information about government healthcare services and welfare schemes reaches every section of society, enabling people to understand the available facilities and access appropriate healthcare benefits whenever required.
