Focus on Expanding the Women’s Organisation, Increasing Women’s Participation and Taking Central Government Schemes for Women to Every Household
Chandigarh, October 17:
The Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Punjab, has begun preparations to intensify organisational activities and further strengthen the women’s wing ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. An important meeting of the Mahila Morcha was held under the chairpersonship of state president Jainder Kaur, during which detailed discussions were held on expanding the organisation, increasing women’s participation and taking the party’s policies to the public.
Alka Gurjar, BJP Punjab co-in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP, and Anil Sareen, Punjab BJP state general secretary, attended the meeting as special guests. Discussions were held on drawing up a roadmap for the Mahila Morcha’s future activities and making the organisation more active at the district, mandal and grassroots levels.
The meeting placed special emphasis on making sustained efforts to bring women from different sections of society into the party. It was also decided to broaden the scope of the Mahila Morcha’s activities to better understand women’s problems, needs and suggestions.
The meeting highlighted the need to launch a special campaign to take the policies and schemes of the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, relating to women’s welfare, safety, self-reliance and empowerment to the public. Plans were also discussed to ensure that Mahila Morcha leaders and workers disseminate information about these schemes from door to door and raise awareness among women so that they can avail themselves of the benefits.
With the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections in view, the meeting also stressed the need to make the Mahila Morcha’s role more effective and extend the party’s activities to the grassroots level. Discussions were held on strengthening the organisational structure, maintaining regular contact with women and raising issues concerning them on appropriate platforms.
