Bjp’s ‘nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ Reaches Shahkot, Leaders Call For Collective Action Against Drugs

Shahkot, September 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party held a public meeting in Shahkot as part of its ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’, with party leaders highlighting the need for stronger efforts to address drug abuse and its impact on families and young people.

Union Minister of State Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel said the campaign aimed to build awareness about the drug problem and called for action against drug trafficking networks along with greater employment opportunities for the youth. He said tackling the issue required coordinated efforts involving the administration, police and society.

Former Punjab BJP president Avinash Rai Khanna also raised questions about the state’s anti-drug strategy and stressed the need to focus on the entire supply chain rather than only on arrests. He said families affected by addiction needed greater support and that young people should have opportunities for employment and a better future in Punjab.

BJP vice-president and yatra coordinator Ravikaran Singh Kahlon said the campaign would seek to take the anti-drug message to villages, towns and neighbourhoods. He appealed to people from different sections of society to contribute to efforts aimed at preventing drug abuse among the younger generation.

BJP district president Jagbir Singh Brar said the party would continue its outreach under the yatra and highlighted the need to identify trafficking networks and support people seeking to overcome addiction.

Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Rinku, MP Dr. Amarjit Singh Thind, Rana Hardeep Singh, Deepak Sharma, Amarjit Kaur Chaudhary and constituency in-charge Narinder Chandi also addressed the gathering.
