Every ED Raid Makes It Clear That PM Modi Is Hostile Towards Punjab: Manish Sisodia

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday tore into the BJP-led Central Government over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids across Punjab, with senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stating that the BJP was turning to the agency after failing to make political gains through its campaign ahead of the Assembly elections. He said the BJP was now trying to exert pressure on Punjab by targeting traders, AAP workers, leaders and government officials, with ED officers repeatedly citing “orders from above”.

The AAP Punjab In-charge stated that despite the raids, the ED had found neither money nor documents indicating corruption, and said the agency was being used to create political pressure and publicity for the BJP. He asserted that the Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann government was running on Arvind Kejriwal’s “kattar imaandari” (staunch honesty), adding that even if 4 lakh ED officers were deployed across Punjab, they would still find nothing.

Addressing a press conference alongwith AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stated, “These days, the dictator Narendra Modi, sitting in Delhi, has launched a war against Punjab. In this war against Punjab, he has sent some special kinds of dacoits from Delhi. Officially, their name is the Enforcement Directorate, but in reality, they are PM Narendra Modi’s ‘employed dacoits’. Narendra Modi has sent his employed dacoits to Punjab. The sole objective of the dictator sitting in Delhi is to carry this war against Punjab forward and keep harassing Punjab.”

The AAP Punjab Prabhari stated, “As the Punjab elections are approaching, Narendra Modi, the dictator sitting in Delhi, first sent his commander, his party president, to Punjab to undertake a yatra. But the kind of response his yatra received from the people of Punjab was such that even when four or five Assembly constituencies came together, they could not gather 400 people. I also saw that two-thirds of the chairs at his party president’s gathering remained empty.”

He added, “At this point, Narendra Modi understood that winning Punjab through votes was not possible. Punjab was not going to vote for him. Narendra Modi understood this. After that, Narendra Modi deployed 4,000 ED officers across Punjab. And their only task is this: Narendra Modi has told the ED officers to harass Punjab and harass Punjabis as much as they possibly can.”

Manish Sisodia stated, “They are entering the homes of Punjab’s traders. They are entering the homes of Aam Aadmi Party workers and leaders in Punjab. They are entering the homes of officers who are working well for the Punjab Government. ‘Which department’s scam are you investigating? What report are you filing?’ They say, ‘We don’t know. There are orders from above. Go to the officers’ homes.’”

He continued, “ED officials sit at officers’ homes for several days. They enter the homes of Aam Aadmi Party workers and leaders. Just two days ago, ED officials had been sitting at the home of one of our Aam Aadmi Party workers. They had been there for many days. The worker asked them, ‘What are you looking for? At least tell me that.’ They said, ‘We are conducting a raid.’ He asked, ‘What are you raiding for? What are you looking for in this raid? You haven’t found any money in my house. Two days have passed. You haven’t found a single document. I don’t even handle any department that this could relate to.’”

He added, “They said, ‘We don’t know. There are orders from above.’ ED officers are entering workers’ homes and conducting raids while saying, ‘We have orders from above.’ They keep saying they know nothing to every question and repeating, ‘We have to conduct a raid.’”

Manish Sisodia further stated, “They sit there, eat, chat, and at night have mattresses brought in. They make visuals of all this and put them out so that BJP people can tweet them. This is what is going on. Nobody knows what the scam is. They have not found a single rupee anywhere. Narendra Modi’s ED has not found a single document indicating corruption. They keep conducting raids and harassing people.”

He asserted, “They go to traders’ homes and start demanding money from them. They go to workers’ homes and say, ‘Oh, you are working for the Aam Aadmi Party. Okay, okay. Fine, we will conduct a raid at your place.’ This is the dictatorship of Narendra Modi that is going on.”

Manish Sisodia asserted, “Yesterday, they reached the home of the chairman of our party. The chairman was not there, but his house was locked, so they broke the lock and entered his house. That is why I said that this ED is no longer the Enforcement Directorate. These are now Narendra Modi’s employed dacoits. They are entering people’s homes like thieves and dacoits. And the sole intention of PM Modi is to somehow take control of Punjab. If it cannot be done through votes, an attempt is being made to do it through the ED.”

Manish Sisodia asserted, “But I want to tell Narendra Modi: Narendra PM Modi, this is Punjab. Here, a government is being run on the politics of Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘kattar imaandari’. Here in Punjab, there is a government led by Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann. You will find nothing here. Conduct as many raids as you want, do whatever you want. But you must certainly take one message from this: Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann is a true Sardar.”

He stated, “He respects the Gurus, and the Gurus have taught him that whenever a dictator sitting in Delhi imposes dictatorship anywhere in the country, the people of Punjab will not remain silent.”

Manish Sisodia added, “PM Modi, the people of Punjab are not going to remain silent. You can impose as much dictatorship as you want from Delhi using the ED and the CBI. The Aam Aadmi Party practises honest politics. It is an honest party. It is running the government honestly.”

He asserted, “Bring not 4,000, but even 400,000 ED officers, and open ED offices in every household if you want. But you will find nothing, because the Aam Aadmi Party does not indulge in corruption. You have found nothing. Every opportunity makes it evident that PM Modi is hostile towards Punjab.”
