Public Awareness Meetings to be Held in More Than 15,000 Villages and Wards from September 20

Phillaur/ Chandigarh, September 11:

Under the ‘Yudh Nasha Mukti’ campaign, an important state-level training programme was organised today at the Police Training Centre in Phillaur. Around 500 guest speakers, including the campaign’s Zone Coordinators, District Coordinators and Halqa Coordinators, participated in the programme. Overall, around 700 participants were provided training.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora was the chief guest at the training programme. In his address, he encouraged the office-bearers and guest speakers associated with the campaign to take the ongoing campaign against drugs to the grassroots level and make it more effective.

The main objective of the training was to prepare all the participants for the meetings to be organised in more than 15,000 villages and wards across Punjab from September 20. During these meetings, information about the achievements made so far under the ‘Yudh Nasha Mukti’ campaign, action taken against drug traffickers, arrests, efforts to take people affected by the problem of drug addiction to de-addiction centres, and various initiatives undertaken against drugs will be shared with the general public.

Along with this, the challenges that have emerged during the campaign will be discussed in these meetings, and it will also be explained how work is to be carried out in the coming period to make the campaign against drugs even more effective and extensive.

*Preparation Meetings to be Held at Halqa Level Between September 14 and 17*

Before the meetings to be held in more than 15,000 villages and wards, preparation meetings will be organised at the Halqa level between September 14 and 17. These meetings will be chaired by the respective MLA and Halqa In-charge.

Officials of the police administration and civil administration, the team of the concerned Halqa, and VDC Conveners and Acting Presidents of the villages and wards will participate in these meetings. The objective of these meetings will be to finalise the framework, coordination and preparations for the village and ward-level meetings beginning September 20.

At the training programme organised in Phillaur today, participants were provided detailed training and directions regarding both these stages, the Halqa-level preparation meetings from September 14 to 17 and the village and ward-level meetings beginning September 20.

At the conclusion of the programme, all the participants expressed their commitment to carry the ‘Yudh Nasha Mukti’ campaign against drugs effectively to every village and ward and assured that they would discharge their responsibilities with utmost seriousness to make Punjab drug-free.
