Chandigarh: Congress workers staged a protest demanding a fair and impartial investigation into the death of Gulzar Singh, a resident of Dirba. The protesters also raised concerns regarding the alleged role of Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and sought appropriate legal action based on the findings of the investigation.
During the protest, the workers raised slogans, burnt an effigy and submitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police, Punjab, through the local administration.
According to the Congress workers, an FIR has already been registered against five persons in connection with the case. The protesters urged the police to examine all available evidence, including the alleged dying declaration, and take action against anyone found responsible under the law. They also appealed for protection and support for Gulzar Singh’s family during the investigation.
The Congress workers further raised concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding the cremation and called upon the authorities to ensure that the family’s concerns are duly considered.
The protesters said they were seeking justice for Gulzar Singh and his family and urged the authorities to conduct the investigation in a transparent and impartial manner.
