Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Harjot Bains launched a scathing attack on Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini over his remarks on the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) water distribution.
Bains accused Haryana and BJP leaders of conspiring to loot Punjab’s water. He stated that Nayab Saini’s defense of BBMB’s decisions clearly shows that Saini was the mastermind behind pressuring the BBMB to divert more water to Haryana, depriving Punjab of its rightful share.
He further said that while the nation was fighting Pakistan, with blackouts and drones flying in at night, Haryana’s Chief Minister was busy plotting to steal Punjab’s water. He likened Nayab Saini to “a new Wazir Khan” stealing water at night, claiming that the BJP has surpassed even the Mughal rulers in betrayal.
Bains challenged Saini’s claim that Haryana lacks drinking water in some areas. He said, “I challenge him to show us such places, and we will ensure water supply there.”
He highlighted that previous governments neglected canal water irrigation in Punjab, but under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the AAP government has extended canal water to over 65% of Punjab’s agriculture lands. “We do not have surplus water to give to other states,” he asserted.
Addressing Saini’s criticism of Mohalla Clinics, Bains said, “Lakhs of poor families have been treated at Mohalla Clinics in Punjab and Delhi. These clinics are the best examples of primary healthcare. However, it is unfortunate that the BJP, upon coming to power in Delhi, started shutting them down.”
On Saini’s remarks about corruption, Bains responded, “It is laughable for BJP leaders to talk about corruption. Since 2014, BJP has welcomed all major corrupt leaders into its fold and washed them clean in Modi’s washing machine. Today, the most corrupt leaders belong to the BJP. The party has now become a hub of corruption.”
