Sggsc Organises A Tier Iii Training Programme On Water Availibility And Management In Collaboration With  Goi

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 Chandigarh organised a Tier III Training Programme on Water Availability and Management at Local Level in collaboration with Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. It aimed to impart training to faculty and students on local groundwater related issues and participatory groundwater management. The purpose was to create overall capacity building in groundwater sector and creation of a trained workforce at grass root levels. This was in keeping with the Best Practice of Environmental Sustainability of the College. Sh Debendra Dalai, IFS Chief Conservator of Forests, UT Administration Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. The highlights of the programme included plantation by dignitaries at Bebe Nanki Park of Serenity, a series of comprehensive lectures by distinguished speakers from the Central Ground Water Board, Chandigarh and an interactive session. Sh. Anurag Khanna, Regional Director, CGWB, Chandigarh  delivered the Keynote Lecture. Sh. Dinesh Tewari, Scientist E and TS spoke on the occurrences and movement of groundwater. The ground water scenario & its management at local level was emphasised upon by Shri Aditya Sharma, AHM. Shri Saquib, Sr. Technical Assistant (Hydrogeology) elucidated on the Catch the Rain Campaign, 2022. Post lunch, Dr. Kriti Mishra, Scientist- B and Shri Manish Shrivastava, AHG, interacted with the participants and answered their queries.

The event concluded with the screening of a documentary on Swachh Bharat - India’s Sanitation Revolution as part of the College’s awareness initiative and to commemorate World Toilet Day 2022 .The efforts undertaken by the College to follow environmentally sustainable practices and to conserve and harvest rainwater were greatly appreciated by he dignitaries from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, GOI

Dr Navjot Kaur, Principal thanked the resource persons for their valuable insights and commended the efforts of Dharat Suhavi Environment Society and Rotaract Club SGGS for organising the Training Programme.
