PPCC CHIEF REQUESTS SEARCH FOR MISSING SAILOR FROM SANJAY TALWAR’S CONSTITUENCY IN LUDHIANA
MP WARRING SUBMITS LETTER TO EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTER FOR CONTINUED SEARCH OPERATIONS
Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, has submitted a letter to Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs of India, seeking urgent intervention in the search operations for the missing crew members of the Prestige Falcon ship. This appeal was made at the request of former MLA Sanjay Talwar, who has been in close contact with the affected family.
The case was brought to the attention of the PPCC Chief by Sanjay Talwar, who communicated the distressing situation faced by Mrs. Rajinder Singh. Her husband, Chief Officer Rajinder Singh, was on board the Prestige Falcon when it capsized near Duqum Port in Oman on July 15 due to adverse weather conditions. While nine of the 16 crew members have been rescued, including one deceased, six, including Chief Officer Rajinder Singh, remain missing.
In the letter, MP Warring highlighted the severe emotional and psychological strain on Mrs. Rajinder Singh and her family. Despite initial efforts by the Indian Navy and the Oman Government, the search operations have been discontinued, leaving the missing crew members unaccounted for since July 15.
Warring's letter urgently requests that the Hon'ble External Affairs Minister intervene to ensure the continuation and expansion of the search operations. He emphasized the need for the Indian Government to engage with the Oman Government and the Indian Navy to resume the search efforts on a larger scale, aiming to rescue the remaining crew members, including Chief Officer Rajinder Singh.
The letter underscores the Indian Government's longstanding commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad. Warring expressed his confidence in the government's dedication to this cause and urged for immediate action to address this tragedy.
Due to Dr. S. Jaishankar's absence from the country, Warring handed the request letter to the Personal Assistant of the External Affairs Minister. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring's timely intervention, prompted by Sanjay Talwar's advocacy, highlights the commitment of the Congress to the welfare of the people of Punjab and their efforts to secure a swift resolution for the affected family.
