Over 2,750 Candidates Appear for UPSC Prelims

Administration ensures hassle-free UPSC preliminary examination

Ludhiana, May 24: 
The district administration on Sunday ensured the smooth and fair conduct of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination at 14 centres across district.

Out of 4,353 registered candidates, 2,753 candidates — including 1,300 males and 1,453 females — appeared in the morning session, while 2,758 candidates took the afternoon session examination, comprising 1,287 males and 1,442 females.

The examination was conducted in two shifts. The first paper was held from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, while the second paper took place from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain visited various examination centres to review the arrangements. He said the district administration had made comprehensive arrangements, including security, transportation, seating, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, medical assistance and other essential facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.

The designated examination centres included DCM Presidency School, Urban Estate-III, Jamalpur Colony, Chandigarh Road; MGM Public School, Urban Estate Phase-I, Dugri; Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar; R.S. Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Model Town; and Government College for Girls, Rakh Bagh, Bharat Nagar Chowk.
Additional centres included SCD Government College, Civil Lines, with examinations conducted in its Old Building (Block-A), PTA Building (Block-B) and PG Building (Block-C); SDP College for Women, Daresi Road; Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines; Government College for Girls, Rakh Bagh (Sub-Centre A); Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Basant City; School of Eminence, Model Town; and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (MBA Block), Gill Park, Gill Road.

Adequate police deployment, including male and female personnel, was ensured at every examination centre. Frisking of candidates was also carried out at all venues to maintain security and transparency during the examination.
