In a significant move to enhance district child welfare infrastructure and governance, a pivotal meeting of the Child Welfare Council (CWC) was held on June 11, 2026, at the Sutlej Club, Ludhiana, under the Chairmanship of Smt. Payal Goyal, Assistant Commissioner (General), Ludhiana, to strategically activate and revitalize the council. The meeting saw active participation from key district figures, including Mr. Navneet Joshi (Secretary, District Red Cross Society), medical officers Dr. Amandeep Kaur and Dr. Gurpreet Singh, outreach worker Ritu Sood, Principal Harneet Singh Bhatia, alongside prominent committee members Smt. Papoo Avinash, Smt. Poonam Bindra, Smt. Parveen Narang, Smt. Sapna Mittal, Sh. Sukhminder Singh Kairon, and Smt. Kiranjeet Kaur Gill. The Chair emphasized that the CWC must transition into an active, high-functioning organizational body driven by timelines and measurable outcomes. To ensure sustained momentum, the Council established a mandate to meet formally once every month to review ongoing initiatives and resolve administrative bottlenecks. Furthermore, to streamline financial management, auditing, and corporate compliance, Smt. Poonam Bindra was officially appointed as the Treasurer, and the Council set an immediate target to collect ₹10 Lakhs to kickstart initial operations and support upcoming projects. To secure robust administrative and state-level backing, the Council adopted a strategic action plan to submit a formal file containing two Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to the Worthy Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ludhiana. Following the DC's review, the CWC will pitch these flagship initiatives to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab, who serves as the Vice President of the State Child Welfare Council, to secure state-level support and budgetary allocation. Immediate execution efforts have been bifurcated into two distinct project categories. For Category A, which encompasses "Project SPACE," a dedicated coordination meeting will be held immediately with the Additional Chief Administrator (ACA) of GLADA to finalize infrastructure, logistics, and timelines. For Category B, which covers the "Asees Early Intervention Centre," a specialized working sub-committee has been carved out from the CWC to exclusively oversee operational requirements, with a mandate to conduct rapid review meetings once every week. Concluding the session, the Chairperson urged all members to maintain a professional approach, reiterating that the success of these vital welfare initiatives relies entirely on their proactive participation. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
