District Magistrate Himanshu Jain has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, in and around examination centres for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2026 scheduled on May 24.

The orders prohibit the assembly of four or more persons within a radius of 100 metres of the designated examination centres from 12 midnight to 8 pm on May 24. However, the restrictions will not apply to candidates appearing in the examination, authorised invigilators and officials deployed on examination duty.

Issuing the orders, District Magistrate Himanshu Jain stated that the step has been taken to prevent unlawful assembly, unfair practices, public nuisance or any activity that may disturb the peaceful conduct of the examination or compromise its integrity. He said the administration is committed to ensuring free, fair and transparent conduct of the prestigious examination.

The designated examination centres include DCM Presidency School, Urban Estate-III, Jamalpur Colony, Chandigarh Road; MGM Public School, Urban Estate Phase-I, Dugri; Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar; R.S. Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Model Town; and Government College for Girls, Rakh Bagh, Bharat Nagar Chowk, Ludhiana.

Additional examination venues include SCD Government College, Civil Lines, in its Old Building (Block-A), PTA Building (Block-B) and PG Building (Block-C); SDP College for Women, Daresi Road; Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines; Government College for Girls, Rakh Bagh (Sub-Centre A); Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Basant City; School of Eminence, Model Town; and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (MBA Block), Gill Park, Gill Road, Ludhiana.

The District Magistrate appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and adhere to the orders to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
