Malerkotla Police brings citizens and officers together under one roof for quick relief
For many people, a pending police complaint can mean repeated visits to offices, waiting for responses and uncertainty about when their problem will be resolved. Seeking to ease this burden and provide people direct access to the concerned officers, Malerkotla Police resolved 150 complaints on the spot on the very first day of its ‘Samadhan Camps’ held across the district.
The camps were organised at Police Lines Malerkotla, Sub-Division Ahmedgarh and Sub-Division Amargarh, providing citizens an opportunity to explain their concerns directly to the concerned officers without having to move from one office to another.
SSP Malerkotla Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said the initiative was based on a simple idea: when a person approaches the police with a genuine problem, they should feel that someone is listening and willing to help.
“Behind every complaint there is a person, a family and often a great deal of anxiety. We want people to come to us, explain their concerns openly and know that they are being heard. Wherever possible, we want to provide the solution there itself, rather than making people visit different police offices repeatedly,” he said.
DSPs, SHOs, investigating officers and officials from specialised units remained available at the camps. Dedicated desks were also established for complaints relating to the Women Cell, Cyber Crime, financial and economic matters, as well as other specialised cases.
The SSP said that 150 complaints were resolved on the spot on the first day, providing immediate relief to the complainants. Cases requiring further investigation, verification of facts or legal examination were referred to the concerned officers with directions for timely action in accordance with law.
He said public trust is the greatest strength of the police, adding that listening to citizens, taking their concerns seriously and addressing genuine grievances are important aspects of people-centric policing.
Malerkotla Police urged citizens to bring their genuine grievances to the notice of the police and make full use of such public-oriented initiatives.
With the message “Your Problem – Our Solution,” Malerkotla Police reaffirmed its commitment to accessible, responsive and people-friendly policing.
