*Dairy farmers warned against dumping cow dung in Dariya; urged to hand over cow dung to contractor hired by civic body*
Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Ludhiana East MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar held a review meeting with dairy farmers of the Tajpur Road Dairy Complex at MC Zone B office near Shingar cinema on Monday.
The aim was to stop the dairy farmers from dumping cow dung in Buddha Dariya and in sewer lines. The dairy farmers have been directed to hand over the cow dung to the contractor who has been hired by the civic body for lifting cow dung from the dairy complexes.
Similarly, the contractor has been directed to ensure necessary arrangements for lifting cow dung in carts.
During the meeting, strict directions were also issued to speed up the projects for setting up biogas plants in Haibowal and Tajpur road dairy complexes.
MP Seechewal, Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MLA Grewal and MC Commissioner Alankar said that dumping of cow dung in the sewer lines is also affecting the working of sewer treatment plants (STP) and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP).
Stating that the cow dung in the streets of the dairy complex would be cleared by the teams of civic body in the coming few days, a warning has been issued to the dairy farmers that strict action would then be taken if anyone is caught dumping cow dung in the streets or sewer lines again.
MP Seechewal, Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MLA Grewal said that working under the guidance of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is committed to clean Buddha Dariya. They are not against the dairy farmers and are always available to facilitate the public at large. But steps need to be taken to reduce pollution in the Dariya and dairy owners have been urged to support the authorities. If still someone is caught dumping cow dung in the Dariya or sewer lines, the authorities would be forced to take strict action against them .
