ED & CBI Are Misused by BJP to Threaten Opposition Leaders in Poll Bound States, Happened In Delhi & Bengal & Now Happening In Punjab: Rajbir Singh Ghuman
CHANDIGARH; 26th October 2026:
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD (Officer on Special Duty) Rajbir Singh Ghuman on Monday hit back at Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia for attempting to mislead people over his last appearance before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Punjab CM OSD said Bikram Singh Majithia is trying to portray the incident as an act of fear, while asserting that he had nothing to hide and would continue to cooperate with the investigation. He also pointed out that repeated CBI questioning was linked to the upcoming Punjab elections and criticised the alleged misuse of central investigative agencies to intimidate opposition leaders.
Taking a sharp dig at Bikram Singh Majithia, OSD Rajbir Singh Ghuman said, "Bikram Singh Majithia has only recently become a journalist. When he himself was in trouble, he ran away to America for a year. I can even tell you which house he stayed in during that time. When the Joban case was registered against him, he switched off his phone and kept running away for 15 to 20 days. In our case, it is the CBI, but he ran away out of fear of the Punjab Police.”
Rajbir Singh Ghuman asserted that he had no reason to flee and could have left the country whenever he wanted, given his Canadian permanent residency. “I have nothing to fear, and I am not running away. But you know who actually ran away: ‘Daaj da Saman Majithia’,” he said, taking a swipe at the Akali leader.
Responding to questions about his questioning by the CBI, Rajbir Singh Ghuman said he had been asked around 40 to 50 questions, which he described as routine and part of the investigation. Reaffirming his willingness to cooperate, he said, “Whenever they call me, I will appear. They called me again for tomorrow, and I will go again.”
Rajbir Singh Ghuman pointed out that the repeated questioning is taking place under pressure in view of the upcoming Punjab elections. “They are calling me repeatedly, back to back. There is pressure on them because now there are elections in Punjab. The same thing as Bengal is happening here. They will keep calling us because they are helpless; their orders are coming from somewhere else,” he said.
Criticising the misuse of central investigative agencies, Rajbir Singh Ghuman said the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI had been established to perform important functions but were now being used for purposes other than their intended mandate. “We have examples of how these agencies are being misused. You have seen everything that happened in Bengal. When these agencies start being misused, they try to intimidate opposition leaders and threaten them, hoping to find some weak link. But there is nothing in this case, and nothing is going to come out of it,” he said.
Rajbir Singh Ghuman also condemned the treatment meted out to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at Delhi airport. “Stopping the Chief Minister at the airport, holding him there and humiliating him is shameful. There is a protocol for a Chief Minister. You are stopping the Chief Minister of a state and insulting him. This shows how much they dislike Punjabis,” he said.
Taking a further swipe at the BJP-led Centre, Rajbir Singh Ghuman questioned the conduct of those responsible for stopping the Chief Minister and noted that the person who stopped CM Bhagwant Mann was the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s brother.
