(Holds very responsive meeting with traders and industrialists)

Samrala, October 31 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the next SAD government would waive all taxes on food processing industries besides allowing mixed land use in case of non-polluting industries.

The SAD president, who interacted with traders and industrialists along with party halka incharge Paramjit Singh Dhillon here, said Samrala had a great potential for food processing of maize, potatoes and peas and said that food processing units would be started on a 56 acre plot earmarked for this industry in the constituency.

Mr Sukhbir Badal was replying to a demand by the local industry that even though a food processing cluster had been approved and inaugurated, no industry had been set up on the same till now. He also announced that the next SAD government would establish a Focal Point in Samrala to encourage the agriculture machinery and specialized machinery sector and develop the area on the pattern of Rajpura. He also announced that mixed land use for industry would be allowed for all non-polluting industries.

Alamjit Singh and Arvinder Singh Vicky of the Arhtiya Association brought to the notice of the SADS president that they were facing huge losses due to the withdrawal of 2.5 per cent commission to Arthiyas for procuring food grains. They also demanded that Arhtiyas be given tenders for transport of food grains and that the moisture content norms in paddy be relaxed besides relaxation in broken rice content. Giving a patient hearing to the Association members Mr Sukhbir Badal assured that the next SAD government was committed to supporting their demand for 2.5 per cent commission on food grain procurement besides fulfilling all their other demands.

Pawanjot Singh Ryat of the Industry association asserted that industrialists were not getting GST refunds. Other industrialists also mentioned that they were facing harassment at the hands of GST inspectors who were acting like money collection agents of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Pointing out how these returns were given immediately during SAD tenure, Mr Badal said the next SAD government would reintroduce the Rahat scheme which allowed for lump sum tax. “We believe in trusting our citizens and will ensure no Inspector comes to your premises for any reason whatsoever and all your communication with GST authorities happens online”, he added.

Jatinder Singh Raju of the Chemists association and Rajeev Verma of the Goldsmith Association explained how they were facing harassment at the hands of the police and gangsters and extortionists respectively. Mr Badal assured that chemists would not be harassed needlessly. He also assured that the next government would deal with gangsters sternly and end this menace once and for all. EOM
