*Ludhiana, October 31*
Residents of Sunrise Colony, Sunrise Colony Extension and Kiran Vihar in Dad village have approached the Mandi Board for early construction of the 2 km road stretch from Key's Hotel to Agaz Hotel Chowk.
The residents said the condition of the road is pathetic and has become a major problem for daily commuters, school children and elderly people. The entire 2 km stretch is full of potholes, broken patches and waterlogging during rain, making it accident-prone.
According to residents, the road is a main link for hundreds of families living in Sunrise Colony, Sunrise Colony Extension and Kiran Vihar. Dust pollution, damage to vehicles and traffic jams have become a daily affair.
The residents informed that the *work order for the construction of the road has already been passed by the Mandi Board through PWD (B&R) Division No. 1*, but the work could not be started due to shortage of funds.
The residents have urged the Punjab Government and Mandi Board to release the payment / funds at the earliest so that the construction work can start before winter.
"The road was sanctioned long ago. File is cleared but contractor is saying payment not released. We request the government to release funds immediately," said a resident of Sunrise Colony.
The residents have demanded that the government should intervene and get the road constructed on priority basis .
