The Directorate of Students' Welfare of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a meaningful awareness programme under the title 'Drug Abuse Prevention Program' which was aimed at educating students about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraging a healthy, responsible lifestyle. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
Several distinguished guests, shared their insights and personal experiences to sensitize the youth. Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Member, National Institute of Social Defence encouraged students to remain vigilant and support one another in making healthy life choices.
Ms. Satinder Satti founder of NGO 'The Shelters' addressed the gathering with a powerful message on the psychological and social consequences of substance abuse. She urged students to develop resilience and seek positive avenues to channel their energy.
Renowned Punjabi singer Inderjit Nikku also interacted with the students and highlighted how drug addiction can derail promising careers and destroy families. His engaging address and impressive singing struck a chord with the audience.
Adding further depth to the discussion, Mr Ramandeep Bhullar, ADCP emphasized the legal implications and strict actions taken against drug-related offenses. Mr Amit Sharma, RE, D. Jagran motivated students to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of a drug-free society.
Dr J.P.S. Gill Vice Chancellor lauded the initiative and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also strong moral values among students.
Dr. SS Randhawa, Dean, College of Veterinary Science shared practical strategies for staying away from drugs, stressing the importance of mental well-being, peer support, and engaging in constructive activities.
