Self-defence training boosts confidence and morale among girls: DC Himanshu Jain
Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC), in collaboration with Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), successfully organised a self-defence training programme for girls at Mini Guru Nanak Bhawan, Ludhiana.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain attended the event as the chief guest. Officials and representatives from IRFC and SPEFL-SC were also present on the occasion.
The initiative aimed to spread awareness about personal safety, build self-confidence among students, and encourage self-defence skills. Under the programme, girl students from Classes 8 to 12 of 20 government schools in Ludhiana district were provided specialised training in basic self-defence techniques, situational awareness, personal safety, and confidence building.
The event marked the successful culmination of the training series, with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, trainers, and invited guests. During the programme, the students gave live demonstrations of various self-defence techniques they had learned during the training sessions, reflecting their confidence, discipline, and preparedness.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain appreciated the initiative focused on the safety and empowerment of girls. He said that self-defence training not only makes students self-reliant but also enhances their confidence and awareness. He added that such training is extremely important in today’s time so that girls can protect themselves in difficult situations.
He said, “The finale of the special self-defence training imparted to girls today was truly commendable. Such initiatives strengthen self-reliance and morale among students and help them develop the ability to face challenging situations confidently in the future.”
Representatives of IRFC appreciated the positive response received from students and schools and reiterated their commitment to supporting programmes related to youth development, education, and women empowerment.
Meanwhile, representatives of SPEFL-SC said that such programmes not only create awareness about personal safety but also play an important role in enhancing physical fitness, mental strength, discipline, and leadership qualities among students.
