One medical store found stocking MTP kit without purchase record during special enforcement drive
In continuation of the ongoing drive to curb illegal sale and purchase of MTP kits, launched on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, the Drugs Control Department carried out intensified inspections across the city.
As part of the enforcement drive, Navdeep Sandhu, Drugs Control Officer, Ludhiana-3, inspected four firms to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the rules framed thereunder.
During the inspection, one firm was found stocking an MTP kit without maintaining the mandatory purchase record. The violation was recorded in the official inspection report prepared on the spot. Failure to maintain purchase records of such scheduled medicines constitutes a contravention of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and related rules.
According to information shared by Navdeep Sandhu, Drugs Control Officer, Ludhiana-3, strict legal action is being initiated against the violator as per law. He further stated that the department will continue such surprise inspections in future to check the illegal stocking and sale of MTP kits and to ensure strict regulatory compliance in the interest of public health.
