Youth Organisation of India Dispatches Symbolic Ghagra and Bangles
to Union Education Minister; Demands Accountability, Examination
Reforms and Independent Inquiry
NEW DELHI / LUDHIANA, July 23, 2026: The Youth Organisation of India (YOI), under the leadership of its
National President Maninder Pal Singh, has dispatched a symbolic package containing a traditional ghagra
and a set of bangles (choodiyan) to Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
According to the organisation, the symbolic package represents its protest against the Government’s
handling of recurring examination paper leaks, alleged irregularities in national competitive examinations,
and the response to peaceful student protests across the country.
Addressing the media, YOI National President Maninder Pal Singh said:
“Millions of students devote years of hard work, sacrifice and hope to preparing for competitive
examinations. Repeated examination controversies and alleged paper leaks have severely shaken
public confidence and jeopardised the future of an entire generation. The youth of India deserve
transparency, accountability and a fair examination system—not uncertainty and administrative
failure.”
Drawing a comparison with previous public movements, he further stated:
“During the historic farmers’ agitation, the Youth Organisation of India believes that central
investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) were misused to intimidate or create pressure on
supporters, businesspersons and artists who stood with the farmers. Today, students possess
neither commercial interests nor institutional influence against which such agencies can be
deployed. Instead, another toolkit has allegedly been used—police lathis, tear gas, barricades and
force against young citizens peacefully raising their voices. A democracy must answer its youth with
dialogue and accountability, not with fear and force.”
Explaining the symbolic protest, he added:
“The symbolic dispatch of a traditional ghagra along with a set of bangles conveys our
organisation’s message that the time for avoiding responsibility has come to an end. India’s
students deserve decisive leadership, transparent governance and accountability—not repeated
controversies and suppression of peaceful democratic voices.”
The Youth Organisation of India clarified that the symbolic package is a peaceful and democratic form of
protest intended to highlight an issue of immense national importance. The organisation emphasised that
repeated examination controversies have affected millions of students and middle-class families who invest
years of effort, financial resources and aspirations in pursuit of education and employment.
Key Demands of the Youth Organisation of India
1. Ministerial Accountability: The Youth Organisation of India has called upon Union Education Minister
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan to accept moral and political responsibility for repeated examination-related
controversies.
2. Protection of Democratic Rights: The organisation has demanded an immediate end to the use of
excessive force against peaceful student demonstrators and called upon authorities to uphold every
citizen’s constitutional right to peaceful protest.
3. Comprehensive Examination Reforms: YOI has sought a transparent, independent and technology-
driven overhaul of national examination and testing systems to eliminate paper leaks, restore public
confidence and ensure fairness for all candidates.
4. Relief for Affected Students: The organisation has demanded appropriate compensation, counselling
and institutional support for students and families adversely affected by examination irregularities,
repeated postponements and administrative failures.
5. Independent Inquiry into Previous Ministerial Tenures: The Youth Organisation of India further
stated:
“Given the repeated controversies under the present administration of the Education Ministry, the
Youth Organisation of India believes it is appropriate that the functioning and major decisions taken
during Shri Dharmendra Pradhan’s previous tenures as Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas
and Union Minister for Steel should also be subjected to an independent inquiry, wherever
warranted, in the interest of transparency, public accountability and good governance.”
Concluding the statement, Maninder Pal Singh said:
“India’s youth are not asking for favours—they are asking for fairness. A nation’s future cannot be
compromised by repeated administrative failures or the absence of accountability. The Youth
Organisation of India will continue to raise these issues through peaceful, democratic and lawful
means until meaningful reforms are implemented.”
The Youth Organisation of India reaffirmed its solidarity with students, parents and youth organisations
across the country and pledged to continue advocating for transparency, accountability, educational
reforms and the protection of democratic rights through constitutional and peaceful means.
